Welcome

Welcome to my blog, The Guide to Literary Research by a Scientist. There are many students and professionals who want to compose literary analyses of novels similar to Water Ghosts. The purpose of this blog is to demonstrate how to do research using primary sources from history and connecting it to a specific theme in the novel, which is a work of historical fiction. Each subsequent blog post will narrate the process I am going through to finish a final polished project. This specific novel was chosen because it is ideal in helping discuss topics that interest me, gender roles. Having interest in the broader themes of the novel helps the reader feel motivated to closely read the text.
Every few blog posts will cover a certain part of the process of literary analysis so my personal reflections will be a key aspect of the posts. Within my posts, I will ponder and reflect on the process and the novel itself. I have noticed that new ideas often come to me when I take some time apart from the literature so you, as the reader, should expect to be narrated through the analytical process.
It excites me that I have the chance to learn along with my audience the transition between science and English literature. I also want to include my reflections on the process and I hope that this blog will develop my skills as a writer and grant experience in writing literary analyses for an audience. I suggest that you read the first two posts, and then proceed to read the novel on your own because the subsequent posts will be revealing spoilers. Also, responsive comments to possible questions and thoughts are most welcome. Enjoy.
